The term ginseng refers to the class within Panax- a name derived from the same root as the word panacea, or “cure-all”, a genus of 11 species of slow growing persistent plants with fleshy roots, in the family Araliaceae. These plants grown in eastern Asia, typically in cooler climates. The two major species are American ginseng (grown in the Midwest of America and exported to China) and Asian ginseng. Asian ginseng has been used for 2,000 years in the Far East, where it’s considered, among other things, the ultimate sexual restorer for men.
